What began as a sprawling collective packing college basements and the local rock club distilled to a core of six tightly-knit touring musicians, playing stages at Montreal Jazz Festival, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork Music Festival, and Spain's World Music Expo. 'World music, jazz, electronica, Afrobeat… I hope we don't get marginalized by any of these terms,' says bandleader Elliot Bergman. 'We're an American band, and in our hearts, I think we're more of a rock band than anything else. The music is full of life, full of emotion. It's funky, danceable, weird, heavy, exuberant, angry, joyous, and raucous.' LISTEN | WATCH Journeyman Distillery Journeyman is an intriguing visit for the architecture alone, housed in the landmark E.K. Warren Featherbone Factory, a 19th-century corset and buggy whip maker. But as one of few certified organic and kosher distilleries in the country, consistently recognized by critics and judges worldwide, you’ll want to go for the spirits.
