UPDATE: A 63-year-old woman walking in a parking lot outside Bed Bath & Beyond in Plainview Monday was struck by an SUV and is now in critical condition at a local hospital, Nassau County police stated in a news release. The woman sustained "serious head trauma," police said. The woman's identity has not been released by police. The driver of the SUV was not issued any tickets, according to police. Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate, a standard procedure in Nassau County. PLAINVIEW, NY — A pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing South Oyster Bay Road near Bed Bath & Beyond in Plainview on Monday, Nassau County police said. The pedestrian was struck at about 12:02 p.m. by a "passenger vehicle," a Nassau County police spokesman said. The person, whose injuries are unclear, was transported by Nassau County ambulance to an area hospital, police said. Police did not indicate any road closures at the time of this report.
