Ivermectin for dogs???

I am so confused about ivermectin for heartworm prevention for my dog.....i cannot find a direct answer on google.... Can someone please tell me what kind to use for dogs? And the dosage?....do i use the same kind that is given to horses? People say its used for dogs but all i see on line and at the store, is for horses...... I hate the vet...big rip off....so i want to give OTC heartworm prevention for my young dog... Anybody with clear knowledge of this, please text me and teach me....thanks!...
