Description
We are looking for individuals passionate about ecological landscaping, organic food production, and regenerative land management to help with the development of a new food forest near Camp Swift. Ideal candidates are responsible, observant, and comfortable working outside. We hope to find team members who live no further than 40 minutes from nearby Lake Bastrop North Shore Park, have reliable transportation, and can work 2-4 weekday mornings (7am-12pm when the weather is as hot as it has been!).
Pay to start at $22/hr with opportunities to advance and work on other local projects in the future.
Currently the project has a handful of fruit and nut trees in the ground with plans for further planting this fall. We also have an organic vegetable garden with 10 x 60' beds that requires regular tending. This spring we raised and processed 130 Freedom Ranger broiler chickens in Salatin-style coops and we currently have five heritage breed hogs helping to clear brush. We are making our own compost on-site and brewing our own OHN (plant extracts used in Korean Natural Farming).
