FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — It's been a lucky month for South Florida residents. At least five residents have won big — $1 million or more — in Florida Lottery scratch-off games in December. The latest winner is a 44-year-old Fort Lauderdale man who took home a $2 million top prize from the 100X scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery said in a news release. Genner Hernandez chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1.605 million. He claimed his prize at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. He purchased his winning ticket from the Star K located at 2509 SW 9th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket. 100X, a $30 game, launched in January and features eight top prizes of $2 million. The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-3.46. Another Fort Lauderdale man, 68-year-old Raymond Cineus, won the $5 million top prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD scratch-off game earlier this month. Meanwhile, three South FL residents won the $1 million top prize in THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000 scratch-off game in December: Christopher Richards, 54, of Fort Lauderdale; Rosario Alaimo, 50, of Hallandale Beach; and Jay Popish, 58, of Boynton Beach. And a Boca Raton woman, Marilyn Manzi, claimed the $275,000 jackpot from the JACKPOT TRIPLE PLAY drawing on Dec. 8.
