Description

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham will use a MassDOT Shared Winter Streets and Spaces Program grant to upgrade sidewalks in an area east of MCI-Framingham, state officials said Monday. The $250,000 grant will help the city to build sidewalks featuring Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curbs and crosswalks. The work will be done near Leland, Irving and Universal streets. The area from Universal west to the Irving-Loring Drive intersection is mostly sidewalk-free. The Shared Winter Streets and Spaces Program aims to help communities across the state design upgrades during winter months that benefit walking, biking, transit, public safety and commerce, according to MassDOT. Framingham was one of 17 communities around the state that got a grant in this week's funding round.
