Description
Hey!
(To hear my playing, do a search in most of the streaming apps for "Jango Monkey - Magic Whoosh". I wrote and sing Amber, Lipstick, Goadess, and Eucalyptus, but my playing can be found throughout. )
As I hit 45, I'm realizing that there are very few people who still want to do original music. It seems that everyone over 40 switches gears to the cover game. I don't want to do covers. I get it, but I don't need to make money from this hobby.
I'm an accountant, not a musician.
I play guitar. I like leads, happy to share rhythm / lead duty with another guitarist. I also like to sing. I think I'd prefer backup vocals (I can harmonize with a fart), but I am fully capable of lead vocals. I have lots of great gear and will at the very least sound like a pro.
I like music. Most of it. Bands I love: Phish, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Failure, Big Wreck, Hum, Swervedriver.
If that sounds like an off-putting list, I should mention that one of my all-time favorite albums is Actual Miles: Don Henley's greatest hits. I also like some of the Justin Timberlake songs on the Trolls soundtrack that my son makes me listen to all the gosh-darned time.
I'm available weekly, provided we set the day and time in stone.
To summarize:
45, lots of grey in the beard (posted pic is 4 years old... lots more has shown up)
Playing for 30 years, probably better than most, love improvisation
Good vocals
Good equipment
Reliable transportation
Don't need this to be a money making venture, but want to sound good
Would greatly prefer doing original music, with interesting covers mixed in.
Don't mind pot & alcohol, provided we don't sound like we're on pot & alcohol (know your limits)
