Description
GLEN COVE, NY — A fire tore through a two-family home in Glen Cove Tuesday, killing a dog and displacing eight residents, according to News 12.
Crews from multiple fire departments — including those in Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, and Oyster Bay — responded to a fire at 42 Dickson St. around 2 p.m.
News 12 says a mother was inside with her two children at the time. That's when she banged on her neighbor's door to warn them about the fire.
All of the residents made it out of the home, according to the media outlet. The Red Cross was also on site to help affected
Glen Cove Fire Chief Phillip Grella said the fire spread so fast because of the wind and a section of the home collapsed. That was also what made it hard for crews to "make an interior push," he said.
It is not immediately known what caused the fire. Patch has reached out to officials for comment.
