HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — It's not unusual for Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies to face oppressive, uncomfortable situations in a rescue.
But this case proved downright claustrophobic.
During the heavy thunderstorms Thursday night, a frightened dog seeking shelter crawled beneath a home and into an air duct, where the dog became stuck.
With the dog whining to be freed, the homeowner called the sheriff's office for help.
Luckily, two deputies who don't mind being caught in tight spaces responded. The deputies had to crawl into the cramped space beneath the home and cut away the insulation to free the pup, who was no worse for wear after the scary experience.
"Now they have a furever friend," joked the sheriff's office on its Facebook page.
