Description

During the 1970s and 1980s young islanders would work diligently to build a winning soapbox derby racer and then compete year after year in pursuit of the trophy. Bettie Edwards and a group of dedicated parents kept this island tradition alive for a generation of islander youth. Soapbox Derby races have been an annual American tradition since 1933.
