POLK COUNTY, FL — A proposed plan for an apartment community at Publix's Lake Miriam Square in Lakeland was rejected Monday by Lakeland City Commissioners in a vote of 5-2, according to The Ledger. Preferred Apartment Communities, an Atlanta-based business, in partnership with Publix, requested the city change existing commercial retail zoning to residential at South Florida Avenue and Lake Miriam Drive.
