Bassist needed for metal band Coffin Apartment

Our band Coffin Apartment is looking for a bass player! We are a relatively established band in the Portland weirdo/metal/punk scene, having been a band for 4+ years with one LP already out and one recorded and (almost) ready to release. Johnny has played guitar in various projects in Portland since 2009, most notably A Volcano, a two-piece experimental metal band, for six years. Justin has played drums in numerous and varied projects over the last few decades, although they have always leaned on the heavier side of things. We aren’t going to bore you with “what kind of genre” our band fits into, as it’s rather undefinable. Someone once described us as “Voivod jamming with Deadguy,” I think that’s my favorite description. Listen here: https://coffinapartment.bandcamp.com/album/full-torso-apparition-2 What we are looking for is someone who is proficient and familiar with bass playing in (but not relegated to) heavier styles, financially stable enough to contribute to rent in our practice space, willing to tour (even if only for a little bit regionally here and there throughout the year), and willing to contribute to songwriting. Our artistic process is very democratic, in every aspect of the band. We want someone with ideas! We also would want our new bass player to learn some songs off the latest release. If you use band practice as an excuse to get hammered, this probably isn’t the project for you.
