WATSONVILLE, CA — A standoff in Watsonville that started Tuesday morning ended peacefully after about 4 hours, police said Tuesday night. No arrests were made. A request will be sent to the district attorney's office to file charges for suspected obstruction of justice, police said. Police have not released the name of the man or a possible motive. "We understand the inconvenience this may have caused many residents," the police department said on Facebook. "But with these types of incidents, we must be methodical and patient to ensure everyone's safety." A shelter-in-place order was issued just after 11 a.m. Police responded to a home on Kilburn Street after a report of a man with a gun, police said. The order was for people living on Kilburn Street and the 0-100 block of 5th and Ford Streets. The community was asked to avoid the area. At 3:30 p.m., police said on Twitter that the order had been lifted. The department's Special Response Unit held talks with the barricaded man. Earlier in the afternoon, police spokesperson Officer Michelle Pulido said no injuries had been reported in the case and no hostages were involved. Bay City News contributed to this report.
