BROOKLINE, MA — Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he will not be competing in the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline next week.
Woods, a 15-time major champion, said his body needs more time to heal before he competes again.
"I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the @usopengolf as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf," Woods Tweeted.
Woods said he does "hope and plan" to be ready to play in Ireland at the JP McManus Pro-Am and at the British Open at St. Andrews, both scheduled for next month.
"I'm excited to get back out there soon!" he said.
Woods has been dealing with health issues since February 2021 due to injuries sustained in a car crash.
