Description

Please join us for an inspiring presentation as national speaker Chris Herren shares his personal testimony on overcoming an alcohol and drug addiction, his road to recovery, and his mission to make a difference in people's lives. A basketball legend from Fall River, Massachusetts, Chris was a McDonald's All-American who broke scoring records and was recruited by the nation's top colleges. He also realized his lifelong dream of playing in the NBA after being drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 1999 and later playing for his hometown team, the Boston Celtics, before losing his career, and nearly his family and his life, to the disease of addiction. Currently in long-term recovery since 2008, Chris has spoken to millions of students, athletes, and community members across the country, seeking to inspire people to engage in a candid conversation about addressing the disease of addiction through prevention, recovery, wellness, and faith. A resource fair will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with information about various local Knoxville community organizations that specialize in addiction recovery, followed by Chris Herren's personal testimony from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.
