Description

Press release from the City of Marion: June 3, 2022 31st Street/Highway 100 Intersection A traffic signal will be installed and turn lane improvements will occur at the intersection of 31st Street and Highway 100 this summer. On June 6, work will begin on the median turn lane improvements. During this phase, the inside lanes of Highway 100 will be closed to traffic in each direction. This portion is expected to take 4-6 weeks, weather dependent. Additionally, the Iowa Department of Transportation is working on some concrete patching along Highway 100. This may impact the project schedule slightly. A traffic study conducted in 2019 determined that a roundabout is the best solution to traffic flow challenges at the intersection of Alburnett Road and Echo Hill Road. Work is expected to begin on Monday, June 6. Phase 1 will completely close the south and west legs, and partially close the east leg of the intersection to traffic. This means access to Echo Hill Road, east of Alburnett Road, will be limited to Alburnett Road from the north via County Home Road. The goal is for the contractor to complete Phase 1 prior to school resuming in August. 3rd Avenue Reconstruction from 26th Street to 31st Street On Monday, June 6, Rathje Construction will begin work on the multi-phase 3rd Avenue Reconstruction Project. Stage 1 will close 3rd Avenue from 26th Street to 31st Street to through traffic. 3rd Avenue will be closed within this section for several weeks for the reconstruction water main, storm sewer and the roadway surface.
