Description
ELMHURST, IL – A man tried to deceive an Elmhurst restaurant into giving him money Sunday, but an employee refused to comply, police said.
The incident happened shortly before midnight Sunday at Buffalo Wild Wings, 149 N. York St., according to a police report.
The restaurant employee did not provide the man with cash, and the suspect left in an unknown direction, police said. Officers tried to find the man, but were unsuccessful.
The incident has some resemblance to a case the previous Sunday at Get Bazzy, 149 N. York St. The store is across the street from Buffalo Wild Wings.
At Get Bazzy, a man told an employee that he was an acquaintance of the business owner and that he needed cash for a tow truck, according to a police report.
The clerk handed the man money from the register, but later learned the man's story was a scam, police said.
In that case, the suspect was described as white, 45 to 50 years old, 5-foot-9, 210 pounds and bald.
In the Buffalo Wild Wings case, police gave a more basic description, saying the man was white and bald.
Patch emailed a city spokeswoman to determine whether police saw a connection between the cases.
