DARIEN, IL – As the old saying goes, "Nothing good happens after midnight."
Perhaps that's why the Hinsdale High School District 86 board decided against holding a closed session Thursday night. Or maybe the members were just plain tired.
The board met for more than six hours, working past midnight.
At the end of the open meeting, board President Erik Held asked his colleagues whether they wanted to continue with a planned closed session.
Board member Jeff Waters motioned to close the doors.
"I've got a Red Bull," he joked.
One of his usual allies, Peggy James, shook her head in response. Waters' motion died for lack of a second.
Then there was a motion to adjourn. Held asked for all those opposed, adding, "You can keep your mouth shut. Just joking."
The board plans to hold the closed session Monday night.
