Nothing makes a person feel better than knowing they have made a real positive difference in a young person’s life. Betsy and I have been host-parents to high school aged international students in the Coachella Valley since 2013. During that time, we have had male and female Chinese, Russian, South African and Italian students share our home. It’s been much more than a Room and Board experience. These students have become a part of our family; our sons and daughters and siblings to our kids. Over the years we have exposed our students to much of what makes up the American dream while at the same time they have taught us about their own countries and culture making each of us better citizens in the world community of nations. Since 1947 the CIEE – Council on International Educational Exchange, has been the leader in people-to-people cultural exchange programs for high school aged kids seeking a semester or year of study in the USA. CIEE is actively recruiting local families to host students for one or two semesters in school year 2022/2023. CIEE welcomes couples or singles with or without children, retired or working.
