Northport City Administrator Glenda Webb said the one-time, lump sum payment has already been approved by the City Council's Administrative Committee and totals out to a little more than $82,000. "There's no set level of bonus," Webb said. "It's dependent entirely upon your service credits, so there will be ranging amounts." The Alabama Legislature, during the 2022 legislative session, approved retiree bonuses to paid out through the Retirement Systems of Alabama in the amount of $2 per month of service credit. For instance, RSA says members with 25 years of service will receive a one-time $600 bonus, while those with 30 years of service will get $720. RSA said in April that cities, counties and municipalities have until the end of August to approve the bonuses. City of Northport retirees can expect to receive their bonus in October.
