The Suffolk County SPCA is looking for dedicated Volunteer Humane Investigator for case investigation. If accepted, you will be trained in the basic fundamentals of animal cruelty investigations, state and local laws governing all aspects of Animal Cruelty and other aspects relating to cruelty.
The Suffolk County SPCA has been serving the needs of the animals in Suffolk County since 1984. We have an unwavering commitment to prevent crimes against animals and to educate the public about the proper care of their pets.
What does an animal cruelty investigator do?
An animal cruelty investigator's primary job duty is to enforce animal protection laws. To do this, they may perform the following duties:
• Investigate cases of animal abuse and neglect
• Respond to reports of abuse
• Examine animals for signs of abuse
• Conduct interviews with pet owners, witnesses and neighbors for animal cruelty reports
• Document animal cruelty reports and their findings
• Research animal protection laws in specific areas
