Description
Lift Every Voice Oregon is working to reduce gun violence in our state by requiring completed background checks (Closing the three-day release "Charleston shooter" loophole - and the gun show loophole in Oregon) requiring classroom and firing range training for all purchases and banning the sale of high-capacity magazines.
Organziers must submit to a background check with Oregon State Police and wait for it to be returned in order to be certified with the Secretary of State. Technically, a more stringent requirement than for purchasing a firearm.
Organizers should be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, carry and pass multiple clipboards, and be comfortable with initiating and carrying-on educational conversations with registered voters asking their support through a signature. Including in high foot traffic and large social gatherings.
Payroll weeks are Sunday-Saturday. Shift schedules and lengths are flexible, to work with existing professional or school schedules. All staff are w4 employees. Paid training is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved with local political activism during their free time, or for career organizers looking to make a historic impact to improve the lives of every Oregonian.
Pay is dependent on how many hours you choose to work in the week. If you work over 30 hours, you receive a several dollar per hour raise.
$20/hr for less than 30 hours.
$23/hr for 30+ hours.
We will be hosting open interviews this Friday. Please reply to the below link to set up a time for an interview.
This is a temporary position that will end on or before July 8th.
