Senior Adults: Tell Me Your Stories

Description

Hello! This post is for older generations. I have been reading my grandmother's diary she started writing in 1942. She has been gone now for 20 years so I can't ask her to tell me more :( I was wondering if anyone has stories to share from that time period - the 1940's. What was it like growing up and/or being a teenager then? She mentions how they would go "juking" to go listen to music, maybe dance? What was that like? What were your favorite songs? What was it like to have older brothers go off to WWII? What was it like to get electricity for the first time? (She wrote about it) What were Christmases like? She grew up in Mississippi. I would just like to know your stories. I think it is sad when these memories get lost forever. So if u want to share with someone who is truly interested please do! Please be assured I have no intention beyond wanting to know what things were like back then. I will not ask you for any personal info or money or anything at all. EDIT: I understand someone from that generation would be in their late 80's/90's. If you had parents and/or grandparents that told you how things were back then I'd also be interested in hearing from you. Thank you and take care!
