STAMFORD, CT — A woman is charged with first-degree manslaughter after she is accused of stabbing a man who would later die from his injuries at a local hospital, police said. At 3:14 a.m. Saturday police responded to a Montauk Drive residence for a "report of a male in the home causing a disturbance and refusing to leave," police said. As police were on their way they received another call from the woman who said she had stabbed the man, police said. Police said they found a man lying on the ground outside the home with a stab wound to the chest. The man was identified as Welton Harris, 50, and he was taken to Stamford Hospital where he later died, police said. Anissa Maples, 48, of Montauk Drive, told police that she knew Harris from a past relationship, police said. Maples is charged with first-degree manslaughter and was released from custody, police said. Police said the incident remains under investigation. "Investigators are working in conjunction with the Stamford State's Attorney's Office to determine what role, if any, the claim of self-defense had in this incident," police said in a news release Saturday evening.
