In a news release, police said Bartosz Kurpiecki, 30, was seen on security cameras attempting to enter the home through various means. Responding officers were initially impeded by downed trees and wires from the adverse storm conditions at the time, however they ultimately arrived at the home before Kurpiecki had gained entry, police said. Police said Kurpiecki ran when he noticed police, however officers chased him into the wooded area behind the home and, after a struggle, arrested him. A facsimile firearm and handcuffs were found in Kurpiecki's backpack, police said. According to police, Kurpiecki is known to the department due to "numerous prior incidents and arrests." The Echo Hill Drive residence was also the location of a previous home invasion on Nov. 22, during which the owner's Porsche was stolen, police said. At the time of Kurpiecki's arrest Friday, the key to a Porsche was found in his possession and officers later located the stolen Porsche parked on a nearby road, police said. Kurpiecki was charged with criminal attempt at home invasion, criminal attempt at first-degree burglary, possession of a facsimile firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of burglary tools, assault on a police officer, interfering with police, third-degree criminal mischief, violation of conditions of release and violation of a protective order.
