Description
I'm a 5-string banjo picker who is a transplant to the Columbia area from Michigan. Been here about 6 years. I spent a good 30 years or so picking banjo in bluegrass bands, hung it up in 2015 due to burnout. I recently got the itch again and I took the banjo out of mothballs; been practicing and it feels good. I'm starting to miss picking. I'm a decent, quick banjo picker with a good personality. I can kind of sing but singing is not my strong point. I can contribute a rudimentary baritone. Not young any more but young at heart and look younger than my years of 55. I'll never be a Nashville pro, but I can have fun with a group of pickers and entertain some people. I thought it would be fun to find a guitar picker and a fiddler to busk with on Saturday mornings down at Soda City, bonus points if you are a vocalist in the bluegrass style. As with most banjo pickers I do like to play peppy and really want to roll through some high-energy stuff. Think Ricky Skaggs on Rawhide, Lonesome River Band on I won't Be Calling For you, Tony Rice on Thunder Clouds Of Love, Terry Baucum on...anything. Fun, energetic, peppy. And fiddles tunes thank you very much! If you play at a high level and you'd like to get together on Saturdays when the mood strikes and make some tips while entertaining the people, hit me up.
