As a Landscape Assistant, you will: * Perform landscape maintenance and repair such as seeding, weeding, fertilizing and pest control duties on lawn, shrubs, and trees using manual and powered equipment. * Mow assigned areas using power mowers. * Assist with perennial garden planting and maintenance, including the Botanical Garden and Arboretum specimen plant maintenance and record keeping. * Remove snow and ice from steps, sidewalks, and drives using manual and powered equipment and materials. * Maintain equipment, tools, and machinery in good repair. What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications): * Eighth grade education plus two years groundskeeping experience (equivalency considered). * Ability to obtain an EPA Pesticide Applicator license within six months of hire. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. * Availability to assist with emergencies outside normal work hours required. * Valid driver’s license and able to meet University driver eligibility requirements with the ability to frequently travel to various work areas. Additional Preferred Qualifications: * Horticulture experience. * Prior grounds keeping experience. * Nebraska Dept of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License. * Prior supervisory experience helpful. * CDL. Criminal history background check, driving record review, and pre-placement physical will be conducted.
