ARLINGTON, VA — Three men robbed several eyeglass frames from a store in the Ballston Quarter area Sunday morning, according to the Arlington County Police Department. At about 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, a man entered a business that had not opened yet in the 4200 block of Wilson Blvd. An employee told the man to come back during business hours. A short time later, the man returned to the store, followed by two other men. Two of the men started grabbing eyeglass frames from shelves, while the third man served as a lookout, police said. One of the suspects threatened the employee before all three left the store on foot with the stolen eyeglass frames. At least three stores in Arlington have been targeted by eyeglass robbers in 2022, ARLnow reported Monday. Several eyeglass robberies have occurred in other jurisdictions in the D.C. area. More than $20,000 worth of MyEyeDr eyeglass frames were stolen in a robbery in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County in April. In Sunday's robbery, the suspect who was the first to enter the store is described as a Black man with a medium build and about 6-feet, 1-inch to 6-feet, 3-inches tall. He's about 25 to 30 years old and was wearing a peach shirt, tan pants and a small black cross body bag, police said. One of the other suspects is described as a Black male with a thin build, about 25 to 30 years old, 6-feet tall, wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, gator-style mask and black sneakers. The third suspect is described as a Black male with a thin build, about 25 to 30 years old, 6-feet tall, wearing a gray hoodie, black ripped jeans, face mask and black shoes. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Police Department's Tip Line at 703-228-4180 or [email protected], or anonymously through the Arlington County Crime Solvers hotline at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
