Press release from the City of San Antonio: Thursday, June 2, 2022 CONTACT: Tonya Hope, Public Relations Manager San Antonio Airport System Office: 210-207-1515 [email protected] Erin Rodriguez, Senior Public Information Officer Office: 210-207-1611 [email protected] San Antonio (June 2, 2022) – International architecture and design firm, Corgan, has been approved to provide the Airport Terminal Planning Services (ATPS) for the Terminal Development Program for San Antonio International Airport's next terminal facility and its enabling projects. Corgan's services will lay the groundwork for Terminal C. The City Council approved the Corgan contract today by a unanimous vote. Corgan and its project partners – which include local award-winning Lake|Flato Architects and airport/transportation planners from Kimley-Horn – will develop the Program Definition Manual (PDM) which will be used as the basis for the Terminal C facility. Corgan's services include: Architectural concept design for key components of the Terminal Development Program that will allow environmental reviews to begin immediately. Updated cost estimates for those design components. Recommendations on project phasing and procurement strategies. The team will continue the San Antonio Airport System's commitment to ensure all visitors understand they are landing in San Antonio and not any generic airport. "The San Antonio region has a rich history and diverse culture and the airport's passengers deserve a quality experience that embraces this sense of place. We will be creating memorable, positive brand equity while enhancing the functionality and operations," said John Trupiano, Principal at Corgan. "We are excited to bring our people-centric design principles to this project." This contract will serve as the kick-off for the new Terminal C facility and its enabling projects. Corgan's services will allow environmental work to begin earlier than projected when the City Council approved the Strategic Development Plan in November 2021. The planning services used to develop the PDM will impact every aspect of the Terminal Development Program. "Planning for the continued growth and demand in the San Antonio region continues to be our focus," said Jesus H. Saenz, Director of Airports at the San Antonio Airport System. "This firm is committed to assisting us in making important decisions now that will allow us to stay on schedule and budget throughout the next five years." Corgan, which has more than 80 years of experience and a long history in the aviation field and is known for being an international leader in airport terminal design, completed work at more than 200 airports worldwide and planned 8.5 million square feet of terminal projects in the past five years. "We will develop a comprehensive, innovative, data-driven plan and related functional areas in the terminal complex including the airfield, support facilities, landside and ground access," Trupiano added. Terminal C is expected to be completed by 2028. This press release was produced by the City of San Antonio. The views expressed here are the author's own.
