6 Honored For Saving Stabbed Student's Life In HoCo School Parking Lot

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Three police officers and three school and county staff members were honored Friday for their life-saving response to a student's stabbing at Long Reach High School last month. Howard County Police Chief Gregory Der on Friday presented the Chief's Award to the officers and three Long Reach High School and county staff members. The police department said the six award recipients quickly administered aid to the victim, who was stabbed in the school's parking lot. EMS personnel and doctors also praised the award recipients' quick responses and credited them with helping save the victim's life. A month later, the victim was able to walk across the stage at the school's graduation. Those honored include Officer Brian Maurantonio, Officer Eric Hamrick, School Resource Officer Robert Flynn, school nurse Melinda Avalos, health aide Dominique Lincoln and department of health contractor Marquita Fullard.
