The Bow Creek Watershed Project is sponsoring a three-day, 2-night tour through South Dakota and North Dakota. Starting off on Thursday, August 4th, from Hartington, Nebraska guests will ride in an airconditioned, wifi enabled, motor coach to Pierre, SD. After lunch together we will tour Dakota Farms Research Farm with Dr. Dwayne Beck. Dr. Beck will share research findings and economics of conservation crop rotations and no-till practices. Day 2 includes a farm tour with SD Leopold Award Winner Cronin Farm and Dan Forgey, and takes us Menoken Farm outside Bismarck, ND. Menoken Farms have been pioneering farming and grazing systems on their research farm and are now implementing compost and grazing covers as a way to improve farm ground fertility and profitability. During supper we will meet with the owner/operator of Guardian Grains, marketing whole grains, flours and pasts direct to consumers. Hear this farmHer's exciting journey and how she brought full-time jobs to a small North Dakota town with her business. Day 3 we tour Beiber Farms in Trail City, SD in the morning. Then, relax and exchange notes with your travel partners on your way home. Hotel expenses and meals are included in the total costs.
