MARIN COUNTY, CA — A rare June storm unloaded on Marin, and the unexpected wet stuff figures to shorten this year's fire season locally and throughout much of the North Bay, the National Weather Service said. More than two inches of rain fell on Mount Tamalpais during a 24-hour period that ended late Sunday night, and nearly two inches fell on Mill Valley over the same time period, according to the NWS. "So the weekend rain did help to lower the fire danger temporarily," the NWS tweeted Monday morning. "Blue line is a proxy for fire danger, in this case across the North Bay and clearly shows the downward trend in response to Sunday rainfall. Good news ahead of warming trend for later this week."
