The AD47 Football Leadership Academy is a free, one-day, football skills camp, created by NFL veteren and Laurel native, Akeem Davis. The AD47 Football Leadership Leadership Academy has been dedicated to promoting leadership, citizenship, and healthy lifestyles since its inception in 2015. AD47 is founded on 5 principles. These principles are Character, Leadership, Discipline, Follow-Through, and Grit. 6-12 year old young men will show up for football lessons, However, they will leave with life-long lessons. ​In light of past events that has transpired in our communities around the United States of America, the AD47 Football Leadership Academy has decided the partner with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Laurel Police Department, and Jones County Sheriffs Department to host Its third annual Cops and Cleats Campaign. Cops and Cleats is designed to initiate, develop, and sustain healthy relationships within our communities with local law enforcement and young men between the ages of 6-12 years of age. Our officers will have an opportunity to use the sport of football as a vehicle to interact with our young men in the community. Our officers will also be presented with the opportunity to not only get to know our young men personally, but also display love to them that will prayerfully transcend the field and bleed into our communities. Much like the AD47 Football Leadership Academy, football is “the honey that attracts the bees”. Prayerfully through football, relationships are established that will have the potential to transform OUR community, OUR state, OUR Nation, and most importantly, OUR HEARTS!!! Lastly, I really appreciate the consistent support of our community. From parents, to volunteers, to the companies that have stepped up and identified with the values and life lessons we are passing along to our young men. The Laurel Corporate community has really extended its support. However, the AD47 Platform is more of an investment than a gift. In an INVESTMENT, you expect to see a positive return on your money, whereas a GIFT is simply made out of kindness with no expectation of return. When you look at what we’ve done over the 1st Seven years, and what we have in store for year 8 and beyond, this is truly a positive INVESTMENT in the community.
