Join SCDNR staff and The Outside Foundation in helping construct an oyster reef at the Harbour Town Golf Course in Hilton Head. SCDNR staff and volunteers will meet at the Outside Foundation's shell quarantine and bagging site, located at Honey Horn Plantation. Due to the size/ type of reef being built this event will be executed in two parts. For part 1 of this build (6/8) we will be loading shell onto our trailers at Honey Horn Plantation. We will then be transporting this shell to Harbour Town where it will be loaded onto boats and dropped at the deployment site at high tide. The reef will then be constructed on 6/9. Due to the site location, volunteers must be able to lift heavy bags, withstand working outside and must be 16 years and older (high schoolers must be accompanied by an adult.) What to wear/bring: -Closed-toe shoes (no crocs or flip flops! Boots or old sneakers recommended) -Clothes that can get dirty & wet -Reusable water bottle -Change of clothes/shoes for afterwards
