Hudson County Primary Elections Tuesday: Where And When To Vote

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — There are no mayor or council races in Hoboken and Jersey City this year (doesn't everyone need a break?) But voters can pull the lever in the Tuesday, Jan. 7 primary for candidates in the 8th Congressional District. Voters can cast a mail-in ballot (see Hoboken and Jersey City dropbox locations here) or visit their polling place until 8 p.m. Note that in both towns, ward redistricting may change some polling places, so check with your town clerk. The 8th Congressional District services Hoboken, part of Jersey City, East Newark, Guttenberg, Harrison, North Bergen, Union City, West New York, Fairview, and parts of Newark and Kearny. As longtime Rep. Albio Sires announced his retirement, three candidates are facing off Tuesday to get the Democratic nomination to vie for his seat this Nov. 8. The winner will face off against the only Republican candidate to make the ballot, Marcos A. Arroyo. Junior Maldonado are running unopposed in the Democratic primary for Hudson County sheriff and county clerk, respectively. They will face Republicans Hussain Kolani and Beth Hamburger in November.
