WOODRIDGE, IL — West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) recently received a $25,000 grant from DuPage Foundation to help support its efforts to buy a refrigerated food truck that will increase its ability to make remote deliveries and pickups. "This grant will extend the reach of our Food for Health program by helping us purchase a refrigerated truck for delivery to our remote locations and pick-ups for our food rescue program," WSCP Development Director Lisa Spaeth said in a statement. Spaeth added,"We are grateful to the DuPage Foundation for recognizing our ambitions to expand access to fresh nutritious foods to neighbors in need throughout DuPage County, Woodridge, Bolingbrook and Will County. We are equally pleased to be able to expand the region in which we can retrieve food donations from our generous food rescue partners." WSCP was among 37 local nonprofits to receive a grant from DuPage Foundation. The foundation's most recent grant recipients were awarded at total of more than $678,000 in grants to support local outreach programs. "Our not-for-profit partners have seen increased demand for their services for more than two years, and are still facing situations exacerbated by the pandemic," Barb Szczepaniak, DuPage Foundation vice president for programs, said in a news release. Szczepaniak added, "We are grateful to the donors and donor-advisors who make it possible for the Foundation to go the extra mile when it comes to Community Needs. Thanks to their generosity, we can award more grants and increase our reach throughout the community."
