Description

Hello, I am a working professional (unrelated to music) in my late 30s looking to join or form a hard rock/metal cover band as lead guitarist. I have lots of experience playing in bands and gigging (been playing since I was 14) and wish to be out gigging with this project as soon as possible (after COVID). COVID will obviously still be around for at least a few more months, but my thinking is that I can join or form a band now, come up with the song lists, and we can all learn our parts so we are ready to gig once COVID is over. I do music for fun (like I said, I have a non-music career), but music is my biggest passion outside of family and work, so I do take it seriously enough. I am drug/drama/ego-free, and looking for the same (alcohol is not a drug, obviously :-)). A few more things: - Due to family obligations, I will be able to meet to rehearse or play a show once a week max. - I am looking specifically for hard rock and metal, which in my view does not include bands like Blink-182 and other emo, or punk like Green Day. - I am NOT looking to just play for 10 people in the audience. I am looking to become or join one of the better-known hard rock/metal cover bands in the Houston area (or at least section of Houston), so that we have people in the audience, which is really what makes it fun for me. - I am politically very liberal. Ideally I'd love to have band members of the same political leaning, but that is not a requirement, as long as you agree to not talk politics if you are on the other side. NO RACISTS. I am looking to do songs by the following bands (and other similar ones): alice in chains, godsmack, disturbed, shinedown, chevelle, alter bridge, mudvayne, hellyeah, pantera, marilyn manson, metallica, black label society, slipknot, static-x, rob zombie, smashing pumpkins, stone temple pilots, tool, velvet revolver, system of a down, live, linkin park, avatar, etc..... (basically, stuff with awesome riffs & rhythms, guitar melodies, and good singing)... Thanks!
