Description
Press release from the City of Millbrae:
June 2, 2022
An inquiry was made to the City requesting consideration of allowing life science/biotech uses for the area within the Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan (MSASP) west of the station and north of Millbrae Avenue. Response: On April 26, 2022 the City Council approved an item directing staff to prepare an amendment to the MSASP to allow, with a Conditional Use Permit, hazardous uses classified as "Biosafety Level 2" in a portion of the Transit Oriented Development Zone located east of El Camino Real, west of the railway and station, and north of Millbrae Avenue within the Comprehensive Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan for SFO Safety Compatibility Zone 2. A question was received regarding the location of a hotel site if the submitted proposal included additional lands beyond the City-owned parcel designated in the RFP. Response: If a proposal includes additional land adjacent to the City-owned parcels as part of a larger development project, the location of the hotel site does not need to be on the specific City parcels. As long as the proposal includes a hotel of equivalent size as can be accommodated on the City-owned parcels, it can be located elsewhere geographically as part of a large development.
