Press release from Meridian Community College: June 3, 2022 Melissa Williamson's future is looking brighter. In May, she completed her studies and received her associate of applied science degree from Meridian Community College's Associate Degree Nursing Program. It's been a long but worthy journey, Williamson noted. "I look forward to the next chapter of my nursing career," she said. There was one day, though, that made the journey arduous. "On Nov. 23, the worst day of my life happened. I lost my family home and all our worldly possessions, including our vehicles, in a tragic house fire," she remembered. Williamson, though devastated, found strength thanks to her fellow students, MCC, and the Women's Foundation - a public grant-making foundation focused on funding programs that support women and girls across the state. The College received a $25,000 grant from the foundation that's earmarked for female students supporting a child. "The foundation really put in the effort to provide my family and me with anything and everything they could. It's hard to put into words the love.
