BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Moose Lodge will host Bluegrass and Country "Moosic" Fest and Fundraiser for the first time, and the lineup is stacked with local musicians. Coming up June 11, net proceeds raised at the outdoor event will help the Lodge support students at Mooseheart Child City and School. Admission to the event, taking place from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lodge, at 1535 S. Batavia Ave., is donation-based. As an outdoor event, concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and cash, since many food and drink items will be available only for cash purchases, according to an online listing for the festival. Aurora-based Gillerson's Grubbery will be on site with food and craft and domestic beer selections. Here is a look at what the day's lineup looks like. 2 p.m. Steel String Highway, whose members met through the Old Town School of Folk Music. The band covers artists such as Merle Haggard, Lucinda Williams, The Band, Little Feat and the Grateful Dead. 4 p.m. Diamondback, a Chicago-based country band performing a mix of classic country, Americana, country rock and new country. 6 p.m. Tiny Country. The band "takes you through the twists and turns of Americana music. They have been winning hearts with their original songwriting and intriguing cover song selection," according to the event description. 8 p.m. River Valley Rangers. "Throughout their 5-year tenure, the group has remained a steadfast contributor to the 'newgrass' genre through their inventive, free-flowing flatpicking styles and arrangements, all the while paying omnipresent homage to the pioneers of the conventional bluegrass style," reads the festival's description.
