ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department recently completed enforcement activities relating to the Illinois Department of Transportation's designated Memorial Day Enforcement Campaign. The campaign took place from May 13 - 31
According to police, the primary focus was to identify and apprehend motorists who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, without using their safety belts, or were committing licensing, equipment or other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations.
Enforcement activities resulted in the following cumulative arrests and citations:
3 = Driving Under the Influence 1 = Aggravated Driving Under the Influence 89 = Failure to Wear Seat Belt 4= Child Safety Seat Violations 76 = Distracted Driving 19 = Speeding 11 = Registration-Related Violations31 = Equipment Violations The Arlington Heights Police Department said it is committed to traffic safety and will continue tobe an active participant in IDOT's grant program by participating in the upcoming "DriveSober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" Independence Day enforcementcampaigns.
