To apply, visit www.sandiegosymphony.org and click Menu > About > Employment Opportunities > Chief Mechanical Engineer **No walk-up applications will be accepted - all applicants must apply online for consideration.** The Chief Mechanical Engineer ensures that all facilities operated by the San Diego Symphony (including The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, Jacobs Music Center, and the Newton warehouse) are fully operational and the equipment and other related support systems are in working order and meet compliance regulations. The Chief Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing the facility maintenance staff within the Facilities Department. Specific tasks include operating, maintaining, and performing all preventative maintenance on fan coil units, air handler units, hot water heaters, Life Safety systems, as well as perform repairs in welding, lighting, plumbing, flooring, and sewer systems. The Chief Mechanical Engineer works with external vendors and contractors to meet required compliance and equipment functionality to ensure projects are completed on time and with minimal disruption to planned events. This position works closely with the Director of Facility Administration to determine budgets, resources, and material requirements for all projects. The Chief Engineer acts as communication liaison between subcontractors and senior management. The Chief Mechanical Engineer ensures adherence with governing regulatory, environmental and safety compliance, permitting agencies and adherence to building codes and permitting requirements for applicable projects. They are responsible for scheduling maintenance and ensuring compliance with City, State, Federal, and OSHA safety and environmental laws, codes, and regulations.
