HAMDEN, CT — A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured after being shot multiple times while driving late Wednesday night in Hamden, according to police. Hamden police responded to the area of Oberlin Road and Woodin Street around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 on the report of a shooting, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Arriving officers found a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on Oberlin Road. The driver, a 20-year-old Hamden resident, had been shot multiple times in the upper torso, according to Smith. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries, Smith said. Police found that the victim and her friend were traveling west on Woodin Street when they were followed by a dark-colored vehicle. The vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and then tried to "run them off of the road," according to Smith. Smith said the victim immediately stopped her vehicle, at which time a person inside the second vehicle fired numerous times. The other vehicle drove away, heading west on Woodin Street, according to Smith. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sean Dolan at 203-230-4065.
