Bullets Enter Homes, Narrowly Miss Woman & Child: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — Bullets entered two homes in Hamden during the overnight hours on Saturday, including one where a woman said they "missed her by inches," according to police. Police responded to the area of State Street and Ridge Road at 12:50 a.m. on Dec. 26 on the report of shots fired, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Police found that about 12 gunshots were fired from the parking lot of a local service station, according to Smith. One of the bullets traveled through the bedroom window of a nearby resident and into a closet, Smith said. Two adults and two children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported, according to Smith. Then at 1:47 a.m., police responded to Turnor Avenue on the report of shots fired. Police found that about five gunshots were fired in the area and two bullets entered a home on Turnor Avenue, according to Smith. The 55-year-old resident told police that she and her grandchild were sitting on a couch in her living room when the bullets entered her home, according to Smith. She told officers that the bullets "missed her by inches," Smith said. There were no reported injuries.
