Open mic with a good vibe?

Haven't played publicly in many years, but want to start doing so again. Stopped by Humpy's tonight, but at least while I was there it seemed the host band was playing a show moreso than it being an open mic. Totally understand the jam session gig, but that's not what I'm looking for. Are there any places hosting open mics where a guy with an acoustic guitar and a voice can play a few tunes? What's the scene like at Van's Dive Bar - more like a jam session, or more a mellow open mic? Open to any suggestions!
