Description
Hello, I am looking for somebody who has worked / studied in the field of marine life / ocean conservation.
I am planning a beach cleanup for two groups of students visiting San Diego on a grant-funded volunteer trip. We need somebody who can speak with these students about topics relevant to marine life, the beach cleanup, or even San Diego's particular environmental challenges. Beach location TBD, but likely one of the popular beaches (Coronado, PB, OB..etc)
This would be Saturday, July 2nd and also likely Sunday, July 3rd from about 9 am to 12 pm both days. It involves a 15 minute orientation to speak with students about the beach cleanup and then stick around during the cleanup (about 2.5 hours total) to answer any questions, share a bit more information. The bulk of the work is just the short orientation. If you are interested, please let me know details about relevant work / teaching / studying experience and a tentative rate. We were hoping for a staff member at one of San Diego's several beach-cleanup non-profits to join us, but due to the busy weekend of July 4th, they are having trouble finding staffing. You would be filling in as if you were the staff-member facilitating the cleanup.
These students are from D.C., and their school won a grant to be able to visit San Diego and travel. Many of these kids have never traveled before nor seen the ocean much. This experience will hopefully be awe-inspiring and your job is to facilitate that.
I look forward to hearing from you!
