Description
The debate over Federal debt forgiveness has been way off target. Rather than asking the taxpayers to assume one more inappropriate tax ; the Universities who have been the primary beneficiaries should be the source of redemption. Stanford alone has an "endowment" of tens of BILLIONS $$ (supposed 50 Billions of $ ready cash in the bank) which would make a serious dent in this.
After all it is the direct benefit of these students and the resulting income from their research, development of many technologies which has made them wildly rich (think silicon valley).
Add to that the thousands of institutions which have directly benefitted from tech boom, built on the backs of those debtor students and the taxpayers who supported them.
