Description

In 1849, a light tower was erected on top the north bluff overlooking downtown. Re-built in 1860, our historic light station includes the lighthouse with lantern room atop the modified school house design and keeper’s living quarters. The highlight of every tour is the climb to the lantern room, featuring our replica 4th order Fresnel lens and fabulous views. Touring the Lighthouse Museum - all ages.Children must be at least 6 years old to climb the tower. All Port Washington Historical Society Members receive free admission.Please note: The main floor of the Lighthouse is accessible. Tour participants are to meet by the Flagpole outside of the Lighthouse Tours operate in rain or shine. For safety, please no flip-flops or open backed shoes when climbing the tower. COVID policy: If you are sick or experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID please refrain from attending. Masks are required per CDC guidelines. Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrances to the Light Station.
