Bernard Mix Puppy

Description
DOB: 3/19/2022. Vet checked, first shots, wormed. Paperwork says "St Bernard Mix". I was told his mother looked to be shepard/lab mix. At 10 weeks he weighed 25#. I don't really see any Bernard in him beyond his coloring. But, I think that could come from something else besides a Bernard. Baron came to me to be trained as a service dog for a disabled Veteran. I volunteer for an organization out of Iowa where they place puppies in the homes of 'puppy trainers' until they are about a year and then they go onto more formalized training specific to the Veteran that has been matched with them. Baron initially passed the testing showing that he would be a good fit for service, but he is showing now that he doesn't have as compliant of a personality that is needed in this line of work. Now for the good stuff! Baron is house broken and will ring bells hung on the door when he wants to go out. He picked that trick up the very first night he was here. (quick learner!) He loves to be in his crate and will just go lay down in there when he needs a rest. If he whines while he is in there, he has to go outside...he isn't being difficult. He prefers to be outside rather than inside. When he is inside, he doesn't last long before he is ringing the bells to go back out and just hang out in the garage with attached dog run. He does very well with other dogs and small children. He isn't one to jump on you...once in a while when really excited, but I don't let him do it, so he is getting where he hardly tries it anymore. He isn't a huge barker and I have only heard him bark when he was really getting into playing with the other dogs. Baron is fine in the bathtub and rode in the car great. There is a rehoming fee for Baron. Part of the fee will be donated back to the non-profit organization so we can continue to provide service dogs to disabled Veterans. He will come with his collar, leash, paperwork, and the remainder of his bag of puppy food. I believe he would fit best in a home that doesn't have children under 3 or 4 and also with someone who has experience with training large breeds. If you feel like you could be a good match for Baron, please email me with the ages of children in the home and any prior dog training experience. Thank you!
