Classes: • Smart Growth for the 21st Century - This 3-hour course covers a variety of smart growth principles including the economic, environmental, and housing aspects of community development. We’ll discuss how to build our communities in a sustainable way, taking into account both the built and natural environment. People want convenient access, walkability, social connection and housing choices. Are we providing that in our community? We’ll discuss ways that we as realtors can partner with other thought leaders to create the outcomes that your community deserves. We’ll also go over a couple of case studies and discuss the 10 Smart Growth Principles. • Big Tent Diversity - We have come a long way as it relates to fair housing policies in our country, but we still have a long way to go. Learn the history and evolution of The Fair Housing Act and its impact on society. We’ll discuss the impact of implicit bias in our communities and discuss solutions to these challenges in an effort to achieve more inclusive communities in our country. • Bias Override – Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing - We are becoming more and more aware of the concept of implicit bias, the unconscious attitudes that can lead people to treat others unfairly. This three-hour course helps real estate professionals learn tactics to interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can provide equal professional service to every prospect or client. You will examine your ideas about people from various identity groups, explore the assumptions you may not know you’re making, and learn how to be more comfortable working across lines of difference. By engaging you in exercises to build new habits of equitable behavior, “Bias Override” will help you overcome barriers to working with clients of diverse backgrounds and avoid fair housing pitfalls. • Serving Different Generations: Does One Size Fit All? This course will help you understand the six living generations within our society and how to best interact with them and represent their needs. In addition to marketing tools and counseling strategies, you'll learn about the characteristics and expectations of the various generations will ensure that you are prepared for successful communications with your next client. About the instructor - Nate Johnson is the President of Real Estate Solutions Group @ Red Key Realty Leaders. Nate is a certified instructor for the National Association of REALTORS. Nate has developed courses and speaks and consults with associations on a variety of fair housing issues as well as leadership and professional development. He is also a certified REBAC Instructor and teaches the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation course and the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation course. He is the past Chairman of the Smart Growth Advisory Board and Sustainability Advisory Group for the National Association of REALTORS. Nate is proud to represent his home state as Missouri Realtor of the Year 2021.
